The Italian  Hospital antipoison Center reports a collateral problem related to the emergency Coronavirus: the strong growth of cases of domestic intoxication by disinfectants.

The problem, as reported by the Hospital Center, affects both adults and children. For adults, the increase in cases, according to the Italian hospital Center, is on average 65%, but as for the pediatric age there is even a more than 135%.

The hypothesis is that this increase may be linked to the attempt to stop the virus has in several cases induced dangerous behaviors.” There are those who, following online tutorials and ‘DIY recipes’, prepare mixtures of chemical substances that are not compatible with each other – as reported by the Italian Hospital Center – Who soaks masks with excessive quantities” of disinfectant “and then wearing them, inhaling a high dose of chemicals. There are also those who, and are unfortunately the most frequent cases, fill the house with bottles of commercial disinfectants or prepared by hand, and leave them, perhaps in bottles not labeled, within the reach of children”.

SANITIZE WITH OZONE. This can be a natural alternative to chemical disinfectants?

Ozone is already widely used against bacteria and odours. It is a molecule composed of three oxygen atoms bound together. It is a very reactive compound and therefore also quite unstable: it naturally tends to interact with other substances and turn back into O2 molecules, that is the oxygen normally available in the air we breathe.

Ozone is often (and erroneously) related to environmental problems, because its name recalls the “hole in the ozone”. But in that case, the problem is the hole, not the ozone; therefore ozone that is reduced in a surface layer of the Earth’s atmosphere (the stratosphere) causing a kind of natural protection that our planet enjoys against some cosmic radiation particularly harmful..

Ozone, also called by some “active oxygen”, is used in various areas of sanitization, especially to reduce the presence of bacteria, mold, fungi and odours.

Ozone treatment is particularly advantageous because it does not leave no chemical residues on the surfaces, contrary to the vast majority of chemical disinfectant compounds that can be vaporized in the environment.

The benefits of ozone for sanitizing:

  • Eliminates chemicals: ozone totally eliminates the use of additives
  • Eco-friendly: leaves no residue, odours, toxins, but becomes oxygen again after a few minutes
  • Sanitizes thoroughly: reaches all points, even the most complex to sanitize
